New year, same (but shinier!) us!

2021! And what a start to the year. Sending love and strength to you all during this difficult time.

Tie-Dye Drama is committed to boosting young people’s well-being through drama and has got the plans in place to do so!

But first, a recap on 2020...

Tie-Dye Drama picked up the pace again in September: the start of the new academic year and the midst of a pandemic (!)

Since then, Tie-Dye Drama has been hard at work, developing delivery content and its tech platform.

We are excited to launch our new, shiny updated website. Check it out here. Along with this, 2020 also saw us delve into the world of Instagram and more of a presence on our Facebook . We love a follow, like and comment… go on!

We’ve re-branded our delivery. More details on our workshops, parties and training can be found here

An integral workshop to develop was "Celebrating Diversity, Celebrating Me!". The themes within this workshop run throughout all of the others, but this workshop really focuses on young people exploring the aspects of identity, privilege and the promotion of equity. It is an on-going education process and journey for Tie-Dye Drama and we would love to receive any reading or training suggestions.

2020 was definitely the start of a learning curve and, like so many organisations, Tie-Dye Drama became champions of adapting and bouncing back. We have been lucky enough to partner with West London Zone and have worked with their linked schools: Ark Bentworth, King Solomon, Wendell Park, Ark Franklin, Edward Wilson and St Mary’s, running either full day holiday workshops or weekly sessions. We have used new tools and techniques such as tape to separate bubbles, wearing visors, adapting games to be socially distanced and running sessions online. Our final showcases and sharing sessions could not feature our normally jam-packed supportive family and friend fans, but, adhering to rules and guidance, we still managed to gather select audiences from the same class bubbles.

We have been so pleased with how these 2020 workshops went and received great feedback from staff and students, who commented upon the varied and fun activities and on how the students showed  such a sense of pride when performing in front of others.

2020 also saw new partnerships with Nova New Opportunities, Mix Up Theatre and Grand Junction. We ran online workshops with these organisations and we are very much  looking forward to continuing these partnerships  and reaching young people from all over the country and beyond.

Online parties have taken off too and we have had so much fun helping families and friends stay connected during this difficult time. We have played games galore and developed some creative and kooky stories!

So, 2021.

With last minute school closures, we know it is vital to reach young people and help to boost their well-being. We are currently adapting our pre-booked face-to-face workshops with schools to run remotely and we will be announcing our schedule for additional workshops, parties and training.

Expect games, discussions, improvising, devising, sharing, learning, laughing and lots more!

2021- let’s do this!

Ella and the Tie-Dye Drama team.
